This Summer- Musicals 101

So this summer, I've been spending my most of my free time learning different shows. I've only recently gotten into musicals, so I didn't know too many until this summer.

Shows I've learned this summer so far(I may not list all of them out of memory lapse)

[title of show]- I LOVE this show. It's hysterical. I'd recommend it to anyone with a funny bone.
Bare- This musical is absolutely amazing. I love all of the songs and all of the characters.

Theater

I am a huge fan of theater. It's not that I want to be some famous performer on Broadway or anything, but I just love the feel and intensity of theater. My dream is to write musicals. I want to write something as intense as Legally Blonde, as passionate at RENT, and as memorable as Wicked.

This was the period of time in the mid 1900s when American theatre boomed. Great shows were written and great actors performed in them. Write your thoughts on these amazing shows!

So I have to say that at first Finn really annoyed me, but his character has really grown on me. He's kind of adorable and while his voice still annoys me a little, I've started to really like him. His dim-witted comments are hilarious. I've also ad…

Will Schuester......le sigh. Matthew Morrison makes my Wednesday. And of course Kurt. I adore Kurt. I would hang out with him ALL THE TIME if could. Actually I do sort of, one of my gay friends is very Kurt-esque.

Two upcoming composer/lyricist people. They are most famous for their off-Broadway production of Henry and Mudge, but have other musicals they're working on. The Unauthorized Biography of Samantha Brown and Tales from the Bad Years are just two :D

Elphaba in Wicked, Maureen in Rent, and Jo in Little Women. Whatever it is, I just want to belt something, 'cause that's what I sing the best :) and I love Idina Menzel, so playing a role she originated would be the greatest opportunity. ♥

Oh, God! I've got a lot! But first and foremost... Moritz Stiefel in "Spring Awakening." The minute I read this character in the libretto for the show, I could immediately identify with his personality and his fear of the "unknown." Minus the will…

I spend most of my time listening to obscure musical songs like Blue Hair and The Understudy. These songs have yet to make mainstream theatre, but they're AWESOME! Comment about your favorite "obscure" songs. :D

This 2004 Best Musical Nominated show is absolutely amazing. It's almost 2 am, so I can't think of a better description, but I'll fix it later. Just listened to the whole album, and it's absolutely amazing.
